Email & Text Marketing: Modern Miracles For Pennies On The Dollar

The most fascinating aspect of mobile text marketing is that it makes email marketing seem old. Email direct marketing makes direct (snail) mail seem ancient. Modern technological miracles seem routine to twenty somethings, and for those of us that were old enough to get on-board in the 1980's and 90's, well, we figured out how to reduce our costs from dollars to pennies.

Let me give you a few examples.

My first few "mobile" phones were hard wired into my vehicles. The equipment was so big and bulky it had to be installed in the trunk, and cables run through the floor to the permanently mounted phone cradle. My first installed mobile phone set me back about $1000.00 in the 1970's.

My first computer was a Commodore Vic 20. You need to be a certain age to have even heard of these things. It boasted features such as 4K (not MB or GB) RAM, no internal storage (it had to be connected to an external cassette tape recorder to store anything), no monitor (it was connected to a TV), and perhaps most importantly, no mouse (Apple was just inventing mice at the time). This package of "high-tech" goodies ran me about $400.00 at the time.

My first VCR was a Sony BetaMax. This thing was about the size of a modern mid-tower PC case and weighed over 35 pounds, but was touted as being the most compact video recorder in existence at that time. This modern marvel was a steal at a fraction over $800.00.

As recently as the late 1990's, my personal phone bill (land line) was in the $400.00 to $500.00 monthly range. This "small" amount was achieved by using services such as SP Communications (later became or merged into Sprint), and MCI calling cards to substantially reduce long distance charges.

This is not simply nostalgic; this is about perspective. For those of you that didn't live through the technology growth of the 1980's and 90's, or perhaps were late adopters, you might think that technology prices today are normal. From my perspective, today's prices represent the biggest bargain on Earth. I wanted to mention these tidbits to help you form a perspective about the gadgets and tools we use online and in our daily lives. These tools, such as autoresponders, can be leveraged into a real income, for literally pennies, compared to the dollars that were necessary only 10 or 20 years ago. Today, we can self-publish with nothing more than the software that comes with our PC or laptop, and stay in contact with all of our prospects and customers with nothing more than that same PC or laptop and an autoresponder account.

Some of us figured out how to take advantage of opportunity when the price tag was hundreds. Today, we here at Site Steering want to help you take advantage of today's opportunities by providing state-of-the-art marketing communication methods, at prices that are so inexpensive you simply cannot afford not to use them to grow your business.
